Using the art of mosaic for the collection Tessere, means applying the repetitive leitmotif of this technique to a given volume, with the intention of articulating a specific visual rhythm or linear surface.
For the three seats, the designers multiply the tile block - read as a unit of measurement - until a unit volume is created, which will in turn be reproduced to form a further overall volume, namely the seat itself, here in its hybrid interpretation of seat/coffee-table. At the edges of the object, the ancient Byzantine mosaic technique is taken up, which uses the dark border to highlight the boundary, the perimeter, and to emphasize the interaction, or separation, between subject and context. Thus the evocative and artisanal mosaic succession, applied on the precision of the 3D printed skeleton, here clearly perceptible in its unity, modularity and geometry, ultimately refers to a unified and compact volume.

A trio of geometric objects that explore the mosaic tile as a modular unit of measurement resulting in the stylized forms of multifunctional seats and coffee table combo.
The boundary between object-volume, environment and user is explored in the detail of the black perimeter. The boundaries between object-subject-environment are here sharply translated thanks to the work performed by the multiple facets of the stone tesserae, which, playing with light, further enhances not only the spatial boundaries but especially the conceptual ones. The mosaic can be understood here in its unity and multiplicity. Viewing the object from afar returns an image that is complementary to the one up close, that is, a sculpture constructed tessera by tessera. -MC
